أعلنت السلطات النيوزيلندية، اليوم الاثنين، تحذيراً من أمواج تسونامي، بعدما ضرب زلزال ثانٍ بقوة 6.2 على مقياس ريختر منطقة ساوث أيلاند بنيوزيلندا يوم الاثنين؛ وذلك بعد ساعات من وقوع زلزال أقوى بلغت قوته 7.8، أدى إلى قتل شخصين، وإلحاق أضرار بمبانٍ على امتداد الساحل الشرقي لساوث أيلاند.
وحسب وكالة أنباء “رويترز”، أعلن في بادئ الأمر أن قوة الزلزال الأول بلغت 6.8 درجات؛ لكن السلطات كشفت أنه بلغ 7.8 درجة.
وقالت هيئة المسح الجيولوجي الأمريكية: إن الزلزال وقع في نحو الساعة 1.45 مساء بالتوقيت المحلي على عمق عشرة كيلومترات، وعلى بُعد نحو 120 كيلومتراً شمال شرقي مدينة كرايستشيرش.
وحسب صحيفة “الديلي ميل” البريطانية؛ فقد تَسَبّب الزلزال الأول في مقتل شخصين وإصابة العديد من الأشخاص، كما ضربت الشواطئ أمواج تسونامي بلغ ارتفاعها حوالى 5 أمتار.
ونشرت الصحيفة العديد من الصور، كشفت عن حجم الأضرار التي ضربت الطرق والمحلات التجارية والمنازل.
